Ismaila Sarr’s two goals helped Crystal Palace upset Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1, moving them four points clear of the Premier League relegation zone. Trevoh Chalobah and Sarr also scored goals for Oliver Glasner’s team in both halves. This victory was their second straight away win, and they are currently five games unbeaten.

Palace showed their strength by scoring two goals in the first half. Sarr’s header increased the lead after Chalobah’s close-range strike given them the lead. Despite dominating the second half, Brighton was unable to win because of superb goalkeeping by Dean Henderson. Nine minutes from the end, Sarr’s second goal sealed the win.

Brighton’s only goal, Marc Guehi’s unfortunate own goal, was scarcely consoling. After their season’s first home loss, Brighton fell to ninth place. In contrast, Palace moved up to 15th place in the league standings.

This match ended Palace’s six-game Premier League losing streak against Brighton. It was also their first road league win in a row since April 2023. On the way to Brighton, Chalobah became the first Palace defender in Premier League history to score a goal.

Sarr made a substantial contribution by scoring twice himself and assisting Chalobah in scoring their first goal. This season, he has only helped with two goals and two assists; Mohamed Salah is the only player who has done it more frequently.

The victory not only improved Palace’s standing at home but also showed how well they were playing away from home. As they strive to further distance themselves from relegation concerns, their recent performance points to a bright future.
