Following AC Milan’s most recent performance, coach Paulo Fonseca considered the team’s poor choices and missed chances. Even though they had 22 shots to Genoa’s five, the team was unable to score in their goalless draw at San Siro. This was Milan’s third league home game without a goal, despite the fact that it was the club’s 125th anniversary.
Although the squad played well and created multiple opportunities, Fonseca told DAZN that their final decisions lacked accuracy. He stressed that although the players wanted to win, their performance slipped at vital periods. “I think we played a good game and created a lot,” he added. “The players wanted to win, but we just lacked the goal and also the quality in the last decision.”
The coach underlined that Milan was able to recover a lot of high balls and consistently get close to Genoa’s area because of their tenacity when they were without possession. He did agree, though, that their game suffered from bad shooting and crossing from all players, not just the forwards. Fonseca maintained his faith in his forwards despite these challenges.
After winning just one of their previous five league games, Milan was jeered by their supporters at the end of the game. Fonseca understood the fervor of the supporters and understood their need for triumph. He said, “It’s normal for this to happen.” “We wanted to win for our fans, who are always with us.” He confessed that he and the fans were upset with the outcome.
Milan’s problems are highlighted by the statistics, as they have lost three of their last four home Serie A games. During their last 45 games at Meazza, they have lost this many times.
Despite these defeats, Fonseca continues to have faith in his team’s abilities. Better execution and decision-making, in his opinion, will produce better outcomes in the future. Refining these elements is now the main focus in order to consistently turn chances into goals.
