Martin Zubimendi’s goal in the 79th minute gave Spain a close 1-0 victory over Denmark in Murcia. This victory enabled Spain to overtake Denmark and take the lead in their Nations League group. The Danish team held Spain at bay for the majority of the game, but Zubimendi’s late volley beat Kasper Schmeichel, giving La Roja their second win and a one-point lead in League A Group 4.
At Estadio Enrique Roca de Murcia, Denmark got off to a fast start. Kasper Dolberg tested David Raya, the custodian for Spain, in the third minute after connecting with a pass from Christian Eriksen. In the meantime, in the 21st minute, Spain’s captain, Alvaro Morata, came dangerously close to scoring after meeting a cross from Alejandro Grimaldo. Despite outpacing Rasmus Kristensen, Lamine Yamal was unable to threaten Schmeichel in the last moments before halftime.
After the break, Spain came out with more determination, but they couldn’t create a serious opportunity until the 68th minute. Morata attempted a shot from close range, but Schmeichel made a vital save. In the waning minutes of the match, Zubimendi made it 1-0 with a volley from the edge of the box after receiving a header from Victor Nelsson.

Both the offensive and defensive strengths of Spain were on display in their triumph over Denmark, as the latter struggled to recover from an early deficit. With this win, they secure their lead in League A Group 4 and keep up their remarkable performance under de la Fuente’s leadership.
