Thanks to first-half goals from Bernardo Silva and Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal carried on their remarkable Nations League run with a 3-1 victory over Poland. Although Piotr Zielinski’s late goal for Poland was an own goal by Jan Bednarek, it guaranteed Portugal’s triumph.

Early on in the game, Portugal dominated; Ronaldo struck the crossbar, and Bruno Fernandes forced a stop from the Polish goalie. After Fernandes set him up with a header, Silva started the scoring 26 minutes into the contest. Silva precisely fired a volleyball home. Rafael Leao struck the post shortly later, but Ronaldo reacted fast to score from close range. This strongly underlined Portugal’s control before half.

Poland made seven tries in the first half of play, but a ruthless Portugal team—who are presently in a really strong position at the top of the section—unidentified them. Piotr Zielinski fired into the back of the net from inside the box after the ball broke beautifully for him in a dangerous place, so the home team did have one back in the 78th minute of the play.

Zielinski gave Poland hope; barely 12 minutes remained on the clock. He fired a one-two with Kacper Urbanski, past Diogo Costa. But this attempt was overshadowed when Bednarek accidentally redirected Nuno Mendes’ cross into his own net, therefore verifying Portugal’s victory.
